Packed with Love

Four Kindness Kits. One Community. Countless Blessings.

One of our favorite Sundays of the year is almost here.

On Sunday, September 13, following a short coffee hour, Ascension will join thousands of ELCA congregations across the country for God's Work. Our Hands.—the ELCA's annual day of service.

This year, we're inviting everyone to help us pack love into four different Kindness Kits that will bless our neighbors through four of our local pantry partners:

Northern Illinois Food Bank
Northfield Township Food Pantry
Loaves & Fishes Community Services

NW Compass

Together we'll assemble:

  •  Birthday Kits – Because every child deserves to celebrate their special day.
  • Baby Kits – Helping parents care for their little ones with diapers, wipes, and diaper cream.
  • Welcome Home Kits – Household essentials to help families settle into a new home.
  • Quick Dinner Kits – A simple meal to make a busy day just a little easier.

How can you help?

This year, we're asking for financial donations instead of collecting individual items. By purchasing supplies in bulk, we'll be able to stretch every dollar further and assemble even more kits for our neighbors.

Simply make your gift through Realm or place your donation in an envelope marked "God's Work. Our Hands."

Then join us on Sunday, September 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., as we assemble these kits together. Whether you can stay for fifteen minutes or the entire event, your hands—and your heart—will make a difference.

Because sometimes the simplest acts of kindness—a birthday cake, clean diapers, a roll of paper towels, or a meal—can remind someone that they are seen, valued, and loved.

Come help us pack more than supplies... let's pack hope, dignity, and love.

We can't wait to serve alongside you!
