Lutheran Church of the Ascension has many opportunities for high school & middle school / junior high-aged youth to get involved in the life of the congregation, the Northfield community and beyond! All are welcome to join in the following activities taking place at Ascension during the school year or summer months.

Ascension's high school youth are heading to Red Lake Indian Reservation (MN) for the summer 2011 mission trip!  For more info about the trip, please open this flyer or go to this section of the Youth Works website (the program we'll be serving through) to learn more.  Please don't hesitate to contact the church office, info@Ascension-Church.org  with any questions!

LYFE

TIME: the first and third Thursday evening of each month from 6:30 - 8:30pm, as well as other monthly activities

LYFE stands for 'Lutheran Youth Fellowship for Everyone' and incorporates Bible study  as well as service projects for high school youth.  We meet at the church at 6:30pm for pizza and fellowship before beginning Bible study and conversation on topics related to Christian faith and it's role in our everyday lives with friends, family, school, etc.  Conversations might involve themes from recent popular films, hot topics from world/current events, or faith stories from Ascension members.  Other activities for high school youth vary by month, incorporating further volunteer service opportunities or social activities with Ascension youth and other Glenview/ Northfield/Northbrook area friends!

Confirmation

TIME: Sunday mornings from 10:00 - 11:00am, and the first and third Wednesday night of each month from 6:45 - 8:00pm

Students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade interact with the Pastor, the Youth Leader and small group leaders during sessions about the life of Jesus, Christianity and our Lutheran tradition.  Confirmation youth gather on Sunday mornings from interactive sessions involving group activities, service projects, guest speakers and faith immersion trips that take them into the surrounding community.  Class will take place twice a month on Wednesday evenings with sessions that delve into matters of faith and create opportunities to spend time in small group discussions.  Confirmation students also participate in retreats, fellowship events and family social outings throughout the year.
