Vanessa is the Youth Leader at Ascension, working with high school and junior high/middle school youth!  She came to Ascension in September of 2008 and is passionate about accompanying teenage youth through the challenges of daily life and the complexities of Christian faith.  Vanessa graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL in 2004, served previously as a church Youth & Schools Worker in England from '04 to '06 and then with ELCA Global Mission in Chicago from '06 to '08.  In relation to her calling in youth ministry, she is currently studying part-time for an MA degree through Luther Seminary in Children's, Youth and Family Ministry.  Vanessa lives in Libertyville, IL and her hobbies include spending time with family & friends, reading, watching movies, and attending live sporting events & concerts!
