Gail began her service as Minister of Health at Ascension in 1993, a role in which she is blessed to be able to unite her professional training and experience as a physical therapist with her Christian faith. She views the congregation as a place of health, wholeness and healing of body, mind and spirit. She offers health education, personal health counseling, support and referral to community resources when needed, and recruits and equips volunteers to cooperatively work with the Health Ministry Team to develop health promotion programs for the congregation and community. She serves as one of the leaders of Ascension Church’s Stephen Ministry. Since 2005 Gail has served as Service Ministries Leader as well, providing leadership to efforts to bring comfort, joy and justice to people in need in our church, our community and the world through ministries that provide and advocate for housing & shelter needs, human rights & justice efforts, and hunger alleviation on behalf of people who have no voice. Believing that all that we have is a gift from God placed in our trust, Gail sees care for God’s Creation as a vital part of Christian responsibility. Stewardship of all of God’s gifts, including time and financial resources, is our grateful response to God’s generosity and grace. Gail and her husband Charlie have been members of AscensionChurch since 1980 along with their young adult children, Margaret of Chicago and Andy of Northbrook.
