Beth and Greg are the Children, Interim Confirmation and Family Ministry Coordinators at Ascension, working with children from PreK through 8th grade. With the help of a dedicated staff of volunteer teachers, they try to make Ascension's Sunday School and Confirmation program meaningful, educational AND fun!
Beth (originally from Kenosha and Oregon, WI) is a Biology and Environmental Science teacher at Highland Park High School and also coaches the Girl's Varsity volleyball team. She has a Masters degree in Education with an emphasis on Leadership in Curriculum and Instruction from UIC and has a second Masters degree in Science Education from Montana State University-Bozeman. Greg (who grew up in Glenview and attended both OLPH and Loyola Academy) completed his education at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and while he entered as a journalism major, made the switch to marketing. In addition to being a Children and Family Co-coordinator at Ascension, Greg also works part time at Christian Heritage Academy. Beth and Greg began attending Ascension in September of 2004. They fell in love with the Sunday School program, the music and the people of Ascension, from the caring staff to the members of the congregation; it is a family to them. Greg and Beth, along with their children, Maddie and Spencer, enjoy spending time with family and friends, and attending the many sporting events and cultural activities the Chicago area has to offer. They enjoy camping and going on long walks with their Beaglador Twister (yes, half Beagle half Labrador!) and snuggling with their gray tabby, Ferguson and their tuxedo kitten, Mozart.
