Beth and Greg are the Children's Ministry Coordinators at Ascension, working with all those children from PreK through 5th grade. With the help of a dedicated staff of volunteer teachers, they try to make Ascension's Sunday School educational AND fun! A few of the "highlights" throughout the school year include Rally Day, our Advent/Christmas Intergenerational Program, the Mid-Winter Play Day, the Palm Sunday children's led services and our Ecumenical Vacation Bible School. Beth (originally from Kenosha and Oregon, WI) is a Biology teacher at Highland Park High School and also coaches both the Girl's (Varsity) and Boy's (Freshman) volleyball teams. She has earned a Masters degree in Education with an emphasis on Leadership in Curriculum and Instruction from UIC and is currently working towards her second Masters degree in Science Education from Montana State University-Bozeman. Greg (who grew up in Glenview and attended both OLPH and Loyola Academy) completed his education at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and while he entered as a journalism major, made the switch to marketing. A stay-at-home dad since Maddie and Spencer were three months old, Greg also enjoys selling on ebay. Beth and Greg (along with their twins Maddie and Spencer) began attending Ascension in September of 2004. They fell in love with the Sunday School program and the people of Ascension, from the caring staff to the members of the congregation; it is a family to them. The Peterson family enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending the many sporting events and cultural activities at Highland Park H.S., vacations and camping, and going on long walks with their Beaglador (yes, half Beagle half Labrador!) Twister and snuggling with their gray tabby, Ferguson.
