Salsa Night!
Saturday, September 20, 2008
Salsa Night was a high-energy event that featured the virtuostic musicianship of "Rico Obsession." Turn out was not quite what we expected, but that did not stop the dancing and good times shared by those who were present. Deepest gratitude to Elizabeth Rude and Al Alvarez from our congregation for helping lead the dance instruction segment of the evening and giving us the courage to keep trying out our new moves on the dance floor.

Soul Children of Chicago
October 21, 2006
Plan now to attend a special evening of ministry on Saturday, October 21 revolving around a concert of Gospel Music performed by “The Soul Children of Chicago”, a gospel choir comprised of Chicago area youth and led by director Walt Whitman. The evening will begin with a time for fellowship and spiritual enrichment organized and funded by the Spiritual Growth Team in order to prepare participants for receiving the Word in the concert that follows. In addition, there will be an emphasis on outreach as we continue to learn how to utilize special opportunities, such as this event, to invite people to get to know Ascension, and ultimately Christ. The program that follows will be a high energy worship led by an award winning group that has a long track record of outstanding performances and recordings, but most importantly a devotion to developing the gifts and talents of young people in order to help them motivate others to rejoice in the Gospel message. The evening will finish with a reception where we will have the opportunity to greet the performers and other new-comers to Ascension.
