Good News Community Kitchen serves a hot meal to 150 people every night of the year at their location in Rogers Park.  Ascension prepares and serves that meal on the third Tuesday of every month.  You are welcome to join in shopping or serving or supporting financially.  Indicate your interest on the insert of the Friendship Book, on the sign-up sheet on the Bulletin Board or by calling the Church Office.

PURPOSE

The Good News Community Kitchen, founded in 1983, has been serving meals to hungry persons and families 365 days a year since 1991. The kitchen's primary purpose is to ensure that everyone who shows up at its doors each evening-120 persons on average-receives a hot, healthy meal. Thanks to the efforts of: over 30 partnering organizations; over 300 foundation, organizational and individual donors; two dozen staff and board members; and more than 2,500 volunteers, the Kitchen makes a major difference in the lives of poor and hungry persons from all over the Chicago area.

VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers from Ascension  serve meals at the kitchen the third Tuesday of each month. They purchase, deliver, and help prepare the bulk of the food served at that meal.
